Needlecraft Group Report for October/November 2009 (by Dru Nicholas)

October was a great month which included a demonstration of a Yo-yo square with Jeanette Martin, the end result was a few members making yo-yo bags.

The bus trip was also a great success. 22 members attended the Mittagong trip. The weather was great.

The first stop was Bowral where we visited a patchwork shop and then had a leisurely stroll down the main street. Then it was on to the Japanese Shop in Mittagong, which has a range of Japanese fabric along with other items from Japan.

Whilst in Mittagong we also visited two other patchwork shops, followed by lunch in the park. And then, as always, the last stop was Victoria House. Next time we’ll have to take a trailer to fit in all the shopping! Karen Dagg’s displayed her unique buttons and fabrics on the 27th October.

The buttons are ceramic and she will make up to your own design or you can buy from the range she already has. She had a great selection of fat quarters which were $3 each as well as packets of one metre of fabric for $5.

We will invite Karen back again every three months as her prices were very reasonable and the quality great.
